Petrus Paulus Schiedges the Elder (Dutch, 1812–1876). After his study at the Haagsche Teekenacademie, Petrus Paulus Schiedges developed into a painter of sea and river views. In the forties of the 19th century, he received advice from marine painter Louis Meijer. Schiedges was a master at displaying the different ship types that sailed on the Dutch waters at that time.
